Staying safe on Me2You

Me2You is built on trust. Escrow, verified members, and safe handover options keep your money and your details protected. Here is how to buy and sell with confidence.

The golden rule. Keep every payment and conversation on Me2You. The moment money moves outside the app, escrow can no longer protect you and we cannot help if something goes wrong.

How escrow protects buyers and sellers

When a buyer pays for an item, the money does not go straight to the seller. Me2You holds it safely in escrow until delivery is confirmed. This protects everyone:

  • Buyers know their money is held safely and is only released once they have the item or 48 hours pass with no dispute.
  • Sellers know the buyer has genuinely paid before they dispatch, so there is no risk of sending goods for free.
  • Both sides can open a dispute if something is not right, and a moderator reviews the evidence before any refund or release.

Read the full flow on how Me2You works.

Never pay or accept payment outside the app

Scammers often try to move you off the platform so there is no escrow and no record. Be cautious if anyone asks you to:

  • Pay by EFT, bank transfer, or direct deposit into a personal account.
  • Send cash, or pay or collect cash outside the app.
  • Use PayPal, Western Union, or any payment method Me2You does not offer.
  • Carry on the deal over WhatsApp, SMS, or another app.
  • Pay them directly rather than through Me2You checkout.

A genuine buyer or seller has no reason to avoid escrow. If someone pushes you to go off-platform, treat it as a warning sign and report it.

Meet in public places or use a safe handover

You do not have to hand items over alone. Me2You gives you safer options for getting goods from seller to buyer:

  • Pickup points. Drop off and collect at a Paxi, Pargo, or PEP location using a code. No need to share your home address.
  • Me2You drivers. A vetted driver can collect from the seller and deliver to the buyer, so the two sides never have to meet.
  • Public meet-up. If you do meet in person, choose a busy public place during daylight, bring someone with you, and use the one-time PIN to confirm the handover.

Never invite a stranger to your home and never go alone to an isolated spot to complete a deal.

Check the trust score and verified badge

Every active member carries a public Trust Score badge next to their name. Before you buy or sell, take a moment to check it:

  • Trust score. Combines ID verification, two-sided ratings, on-time dispatch, and dispute outcomes into one badge.
  • Verified and KYC badge. Shows the member has confirmed their identity. A verified seller has more to lose by behaving badly.
  • Ratings and reviews. Read what other members say. A long history of good reviews is a strong sign.

A brand new account with no history is not automatically dishonest, but take a little more care and keep the deal on Me2You.

How to report a suspicious listing or user

If something does not look right, tell us. Reporting is quick, private, and helps protect the whole community.

  • Report a user. Open the user's profile or the chat menu and choose Report user, or go straight to the report a user form. Tell us what happened and attach screenshots if you have them.
  • Report a listing. On any listing you can flag it for review using the report link, which opens the report a listing form. Use it for scams, fakes, stolen goods, or anything against our rules.

Our trust and safety team reviews every report. We never share your details with the person you reported.

What to do if something goes wrong

If you paid through escrow and the item never arrived, arrived broken, or is not as described, you are protected. Do not panic and do not pay anything extra off-platform to try to fix it.

  • Keep the money in escrow. Do not confirm delivery if you have not received the item.
  • Message the other party through Me2You to try to sort it out first.
  • If you cannot agree, open a dispute and upload your evidence.
  • A moderator reviews both sides and can issue a refund or release the funds fairly.

Because the payment was held in escrow, the money cannot simply vanish. That is the whole point of keeping deals on Me2You.
