One account does it all. Every member can buy, sell, browse the swipe feed, join a community hub, run an auction, or set up a lay-bye. Drivers apply through become a driver.
Buying
When you pay for an item, your money goes into a secure escrow account held by Me2You. The seller cannot access the funds until you confirm that you received the item (or until 48 hours pass without a dispute). This means your money is protected the entire time. If something goes wrong, you can open a dispute and a moderator will review the case before any funds are released.
We accept all payment methods supported by PayFast, including Visa, Mastercard, instant EFT (through most SA banks), SnapScan, and Mobicred. You choose your preferred option at checkout. All payments are processed securely through PayFast, which is PCI-DSS compliant.
You can choose from three options at checkout:
- Me2You driver - a local driver collects from the seller and delivers to your door.
- Pickup point - the seller drops the parcel at a Paxi, Pargo, or PEP locker and you collect at your convenience.
- Self-collect - you arrange to meet the seller in person and verify the handover with a one-time PIN (OTP).
If the item you receive does not match the listing (wrong size, damaged, fake, or different item), you can open a dispute within 48 hours of delivery. Upload photos as evidence. A Me2You moderator will review the case and can issue a full or partial refund from escrow. Do not confirm delivery until you have inspected the item.
Always meet in a busy, public place during daylight hours. We recommend police station parking areas and shopping centre food courts. See our safe meet-up locations page for a map of suggested spots across Gauteng, including addresses, operating hours, and directions.
Go to your order page and tap "Open dispute". Describe what went wrong and attach any photos. Both you and the seller can submit evidence. A moderator reviews everything (usually within 24 hours) and makes a decision. Possible outcomes: full refund to buyer, partial refund, or release to seller. While a dispute is open, the funds remain locked in escrow.
Selling
Tap the orange "Sell" button in the navigation bar. Choose a listing kind (for-sale, showcase, wanted, or service) and a pricing type (fixed, "from", enquiry, or free). Upload up to five photos, fill in the title, description, category (Plants, Food, Art & Collectables, Crafts, Electronics, Fashion, Furniture, Vehicles, Home, Sports, Books, Toys, and more), condition, and price. Select the suburb where the item is located and choose which delivery methods you support. Submit the listing and it will be live once a moderator approves it (normally within a few minutes). You can also add a short video to your listing so it appears in the swipe feed.
Listing is free. When an item sells, Me2You deducts a 5% platform commission from the sale price before paying you out. PayFast also charges a processing fee (approximately 3.5% + R 2 per transaction), which is included in the buyer's total. You receive the sale price minus 5%, and the buyer pays the PayFast fee on top.
Funds are released from escrow as soon as the buyer confirms delivery, or automatically after 48 hours with no dispute. Once released, payouts are batched and sent to your linked bank account. Standard payouts arrive within 1-2 business days. If you are a verified driver, you also have access to instant payouts (see the Drivers section below).
You will receive a notification with the buyer's claim. Go to the dispute page and submit your side of the story with any supporting evidence (delivery photos, chat screenshots, tracking info). A moderator will review both sides. If the moderator finds in your favour, the funds are released to you. Keep your listing descriptions accurate and photograph items clearly to avoid disputes in the first place.
Yes. On the listing creation page, paste the Facebook Marketplace link into the import field. Me2You will pull the title, description, price, and main photo from the post. You can then edit the details, add more photos, and set your delivery preferences before publishing. This saves you from re-typing everything when you move your items across.
Delivery
Courier (Me2You driver): a registered driver collects the item from the seller's address and delivers it to your door. Best for bulky items or when neither party wants to travel.
Pickup point: the seller drops the parcel at a Paxi, Pargo, or PEP locker. You receive a notification with the pickup code and collect at your nearest point. Affordable for smaller items.
Self-collect: you meet the seller in person (at their home, a public spot, or their shop). You enter the one-time PIN displayed on the seller's phone to confirm the handover. No delivery fee applies.

When you arrive to collect, the seller shows you a 6-digit OTP on their screen. You enter that PIN on your phone in the Me2You order page. Once confirmed, the system marks the order as delivered and the escrow clock starts. This proves both parties were present and agreed the item changed hands. It also protects sellers from false claims of non-delivery.
Me2You driver deliveries are typically same-day within the same suburb, or next-day for neighbouring areas. Paxi and Pargo pickups usually take 2-4 working days depending on the route. Self-collect is immediate once you and the seller arrange a time. Delivery estimates are shown at checkout before you pay.
If a Me2You driver loses your parcel, the platform covers the cost from the buyer protection pool and you receive a full refund. If the item arrives damaged, open a dispute with photos and the moderator will assess liability. For pickup-point orders, Paxi and Pargo have their own claims processes, but Me2You will assist you with the claim and keep your funds in escrow until it is resolved.
Payments
PayFast is South Africa's leading online payment gateway, trusted by thousands of merchants and backed by DPO Group (now Network International). They are PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant, which is the highest standard for card security. Me2You never sees or stores your card details. All sensitive data stays on PayFast's servers.
If a dispute is resolved in the buyer's favour, Me2You issues a refund from the escrow balance. Refunds are processed manually by our team via EFT to your bank account and arrive within 3 to 5 business days. Keep your bank details up to date in your profile so we can pay you out promptly.
A flat buyer protection fee of R 14.90 is added at checkout, alongside a 5% commission on the item price. Together these fund the escrow holding process, dispute moderation, and the lost-parcel protection pool. Both are displayed clearly before you confirm payment so there are no surprises. Sellers do not pay either fee.
Account & Privacy
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate data, and to request deletion of your data. Me2You only collects information needed to process transactions (name, email, phone, address, and payment references). We never sell your data to third parties. Full details are in our POPIA compliance page.
Go to your profile page and tap "Delete my account" at the bottom. You will be asked to confirm. Once deleted, all your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Any active orders or pending payouts must be completed or cancelled before deletion. If you have open disputes, those must be resolved first. You can also email team@m2y.online with a deletion request and we will process it within 5 working days as required by POPIA.
If you are logged in, go to your profile page and tap "Change password". Enter your current password and then your new one twice. If you have forgotten your password, use the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page. We will send a reset link to your registered email address. The link expires after one hour for security.
Community, feed, auctions & lay-bye
The feed is a TikTok-style vertical scroll of listings, short videos, and community posts. Three tabs: For You (mixed discovery), Following (sellers you follow), and Near me (your suburb and province). Tap a card to view the full listing or open the conversation.
A community hub is a named group around a suburb (for example "Soweto Sellers") or a hobby (for example "Clivia Collectors"). Members post photos, tips, swap notes, and surface listings to neighbours. Each hub has a manager who keeps the space on-topic. Anyone can browse; you join with one tap.
Browse open auctions and place a bid before the closing time. The highest bid at the deadline wins; the winning buyer pays through escrow like any other order. Sellers set a starting bid and an end time when they create the listing.
Lay-bye lets a buyer reserve an item with a deposit. Start one from the listing page or directly at /laybye/start.php. The buyer pays a deposit to hold the item and settles the balance within an agreed window; the seller only ships once the balance clears. Both sides see the deposit and the running balance in their account. Lay-bye is great for items above R 1 000 that a buyer cannot pay for in one go.
Yes. Ratings are two-sided. After a deal closes, both the buyer and the seller can rate each other on communication, payment speed, and overall conduct. A member's Trust Score badge reflects ID verification, ratings from both sides, dispatch reliability, and dispute outcomes.
A service run is a multi-leg trip booked through Me2You: collect from one address, drop at another, with optional extra stops. Useful for moving an item between neighbours when no purchase is involved (for example fetching a couch from a relative). The same driver network covers it.
Drivers
Sign up for a normal Me2You account, then apply through /driver/register.php. Driving is an opt-in capability you add to your existing buy-and-sell account, not a separate sign-up. You will need to provide a valid SA ID or passport, a clear selfie for identity verification, and proof of a vehicle (car, bakkie, scooter, or bicycle). Once approved by an admin, driver jobs and multi-leg service runs in your area will appear on your dashboard. There is no signup fee.
Each delivery job has a fixed fee shown before you accept it. The fee is based on the distance between pickup and drop-off, plus a base amount. You keep 85% of the delivery fee, and Me2You retains 15% for platform costs and insurance. Your earnings are tracked in real time on your driver dashboard. Bonuses may apply during peak times or for completing a certain number of deliveries in a week.
Yes. Verified drivers with a linked bank account can request instant payouts from the driver dashboard. Instant payouts are processed within minutes and sent via PayFast direct transfer. A small instant-payout fee (R 5 flat) applies per withdrawal. Standard payouts (free) are batched daily and arrive within 1-2 business days.
