About Me2You

South Africa's safer community marketplace

“We exist to make community trade safe, so that a stranger’s money and a stranger’s goods are both protected until the deal is done.”

The Me2You mission

Who we are

Me2You is a C2C marketplace built for South African townships and peri-urban communities. Every member is a buyer and a seller from the same account, and any member can apply to drive deliveries. We connect neighbours who want to trade everyday items - from clothing, electronics and furniture to plants, home-cooked food, art and collectables, and handmade crafts. The name says it plainly: every deal is from me to you, one person to another.

The platform was created as part of an ITECA3-12 Web Development and e-Commerce project at Eduvos, but the problem it solves is real. Millions of South Africans trade informally every day, often with no payment protection, no delivery options, and no way to hold a seller accountable. Me2You changes that.

Alongside the classic marketplace we run a TikTok-style swipe feed for discovery, named community hubs where neighbours gather around a suburb or hobby, timed auctions for rare and collectable items, and lay-bye reservations so a R 2 000 item can be held with a deposit and the balance settled within an agreed window.

Why we built it

Township commerce is thriving, but the tools are lagging behind. Facebook groups, WhatsApp statuses, and roadside tables work up to a point, but they leave buyers exposed. There is no payment protection if something goes wrong, no proof of delivery, and no ratings to help you pick a trustworthy seller.

We built Me2You to bring structure and safety to community trade without killing the informality that makes it work. You can still sell the same items you would post on Facebook, but now your buyer's money is held safely until they confirm delivery.

How we keep it safe

Escrow payments

Buyer pays into escrow. The seller only receives the money once the buyer confirms delivery or after a 48-hour auto-release.

Delivery options

Door-to-door drivers, Paxi/Pargo/PEP pickup lockers, or self-collect with an OTP code. You choose at checkout.

POPIA compliant

Your personal data is stored securely, used only for transactions, and never sold. Read our privacy notice.

The peace hand

Our logo is a peace hand. It stands for trust between strangers, fair deals, and the idea that commerce can bring people closer instead of pulling them apart. When you see the peace hand, you know the transaction is protected.

Township-first design

Me2You is designed for the way South Africans actually shop. We optimise for prepaid data (small page sizes, minimal JavaScript), support EFT and mobile-friendly payments through PayFast, and default to suburbs and townships for location, not GPS coordinates.

Whether you are selling second-hand shoes from your stoep, running a small spaza shop, taking pre-orders for koeksisters, listing a wanted item, or offering a service run for a neighbour, Me2You gives you a proper storefront with buyer protection built in. Listings can be for-sale, showcase, wanted, or a service, and prices can be fixed, "from", enquiry, or free. Sellers and buyers rate each other after every deal, and every active member carries a public Trust Score badge.
