Community guidelines
Me2You communities are local spaces where neighbours buy, sell, show and help each other. These guidelines keep our hubs safe, honest and welcoming for everyone. By taking part, you agree to follow them.
Be kind and respectful
- Treat every member the way you would like to be treated. We are all neighbours here.
- No harassment, hate speech, bullying, threats or discrimination of any kind.
- Keep posts and messages relevant, honest and free of spam.
- Respect people's privacy. Do not share someone else's personal details.
No scams or dishonest selling
- Describe items truthfully. Use your own clear photos and mention any faults.
- No counterfeit, stolen or misrepresented goods.
- No fake listings, bait pricing or pressure tactics to rush a buyer.
- Honour the price and condition you advertise.
No off-platform payment
- Always pay and get paid through Me2You so escrow can protect both sides.
- Never agree to pay by direct EFT, e-wallet or cash deposit before delivery to "save fees".
- Be wary of anyone who insists on moving the deal to WhatsApp or another app to pay.
- If a deal feels rushed or too good to be true, slow down and report it.
No prohibited goods
To keep our communities legal and safe, the following may never be listed or traded:
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition and explosives.
- Illegal drugs, vaping products sold to minors, and prescription medicines.
- Live animals, endangered species products and protected plants.
- Stolen goods, counterfeit items and anything that infringes copyright.
- Adult content, and any item that is unlawful to sell in South Africa.
How moderation and reporting work
- If you see a listing, post or member breaking these rules, report it. Reports are private.
- Our moderation team and hub managers review every report and act on what they find.
- Depending on what happened, we may remove content, warn the member, suspend the account or refer the matter to the authorities.
- Serious or repeated breaches lead to a permanent ban from Me2You.
To report a problem, use the Report a problem page, or open a dispute on an order you have already paid for.
Hub manager responsibilities
- Set a welcoming tone and lead by example in your hub.
- Review reports promptly and apply these guidelines fairly and consistently.
- Never use the role for personal gain, favouritism or to settle disputes outside the platform.
- Escalate anything serious, unlawful or beyond your remit to the Me2You team.
- Keep member information confidential and respect everyone's privacy.
Thank you for helping keep Me2You a safer place to buy and sell. For more on staying safe, read our Staying safe guide.
