Seller Agreement
Last updated: May 2026
This agreement sets out the rules and responsibilities for selling on Me2You. Me2You accounts are unified: every member buys and sells from the same profile, so by listing an item, posting a service, running an auction, accepting a lay-bye plan, or posting to the swipe feed or a community hub, you agree to these terms. They apply in addition to the general Terms of Service.
1. Listing accuracy
- You must provide truthful descriptions, accurate condition labels (new, used, or refurbished), and real photos of the actual item.
- Choose the correct listing kind (for-sale, showcase, wanted, or service) and pricing type (fixed, "from", enquiry, or free) so buyers know what to expect.
- If you add a short video for the swipe feed or post to a community hub, the same accuracy and respect rules apply.
- Stock images and misleading descriptions are not allowed.
- If an item becomes unavailable, you must update or remove the listing promptly.
- Me2You may edit or remove non-compliant listings (including auction lots, lay-bye plans, community posts, and feed videos) without notice.
2. Prohibited items
- All items listed in the Terms of Service prohibited items section apply here.
- You are solely responsible for making sure your items are legal to sell in South Africa.
- Listing a prohibited item is grounds for immediate account suspension.
3. Dispatch timeline
- You must dispatch items within 3 business days of payment confirmation.
- For an auction win, the same 3 business day window starts when the buyer pays the winning bid.
- For lay-bye orders, you only dispatch once the balance clears; the 3 business day window starts on that balance payment.
- Where applicable, you must provide a tracking number or proof of dispatch.
- If you fail to dispatch within 3 days, the buyer receives an automatic refund from escrow.
- Repeated late dispatches may result in account suspension.
4. How escrow works for sellers
| Event | What happens |
|---|---|
| Buyer pays | Funds are held in escrow through PayFast |
| Seller dispatches | Tracking information is updated on the order |
| Buyer confirms receipt | Funds are released to the seller |
| 48-hour window expires (no dispute) | Funds are auto-released to the seller |
| Buyer raises a dispute | Funds are frozen until the dispute is resolved |
- Payouts are sent to your registered bank account.
- Payout processing takes 2 to 3 business days after funds are released.
- Two-sided ratings apply: both you and the buyer rate each other after every deal, and the rating feeds your public Trust Score badge.
5. Fees
- Me2You charges a 5% sales commission and a flat R 14.90 buyer protection fee on every transaction. Both fees are added at checkout and paid by the buyer, not the seller.
- You receive the full listing price minus any applicable fees.
- If Me2You introduces new seller fees in future (for example, Seller Pro subscriptions or featured listings), we will give you at least 30 days' notice.
- All fees are displayed clearly before you confirm a listing.
6. Account suspension
Your seller account may be suspended for any of the following reasons:
- Listing prohibited items
- Repeatedly failing to dispatch within 3 days
- Fraudulent listings or misrepresented item condition
- Receiving multiple unresolved buyer complaints
- Violating any Me2You terms or South African law
For serious violations, Me2You may suspend your account immediately. For lesser violations, we will give 7 days' notice. You may appeal any suspension through the dispute resolution process.
